Joe Jackson(born August 11, 1954 in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, as David Ian Jackson) is a British musician. Jackson is probably best-known for the 1982 hit song Steppin' Out, which still gets extensive FM radio airplay, and for his 1979 hit, Is She Really Going Out with Him? Although born in Staffordshire, Jackson grew up in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England. He started off learning to play the violin but soon switched to piano. From the age of 16 he played in bars, and won a scholarship to study musical composition at London's Royal Academy of Music. Jackson did not like the prospect of being a serious composer, and moved towards pop and rock.

A Slow Song Lyrics

Joe Jackson

Music has charms they say
But in some peoples hands
It becomes a savage beast
Cant they control it
Why dont they hold it back
You see my friend and me
Dont have an easy day
And at night we dance not fight
And we need the energy
If not the sympathy
But Im brutalized by bass
And terrorized by treble
Im open to change my mood but
I always get caught in the middle
And I get tired of djs
Whys it always what he plays
Im gonna push right through
Im gonna tell him too
Tell him to
Play us
Play us a slow song
Its late - Im winding down
Am I the only one
To want a strong and silent sound
To pick me up and undress me
Lay me down and caress me
I feel you touch my hand
And whisper in my ear
Ask me how Im feeling now
And I want to get near you
But I cant even hear you
But this is a fine romance
If we have to be so demanding
We need just one more dance to
Leave here with an understanding
And I get tired of djs
Whys it always what he plays
Im gonna push right through
Im gonna tell him too
Tell him to
Play us
Play us a slow song
